Meet Adam Booten!

Adam Booten works here at Guaranty Trust and he actually just bought a home! Here is a Q&A to help you get to know Adam a little better. Make sure and comment to give Adam some love!

Adam, what is your role here at Guaranty Trust?

I work in the set-up department here at GTC. We prep the files on the front end for the underwriters to make their job a little easier.

So, I hear you just bought a house! Tell me about your new place..

My fiancé and I bought the house together and it is wonderful. It is a four bedroom two and half bath with a nice fenced in yard and even has a little Koi pond in the back. It is too much house for us now, but we will grow into it.

Are you a first time homebuyer?

I am not a first time buyer. I bought my first home in 2007. I decided not to sell it and am currently renting it out.

What are your thoughts on the real estate market right now? Obviously, you thought it was a good time to buy…

The market now is a good one. Everything you hear on the news is how bad it is, but when you actually look at it, there are a lot of good opportunities available to people looking to buy. Sure, most buyers might have to sell their home at a small discount, but the house they are looking to buy is probably selling for a higher discount.

Since you work for a mortgage company (Guaranty Trust), did you feel better and more informed going into the homebuying process? What knowledge ended up being the most helpful?

I felt comfortable with the buying process because I had been thru it before. Having bought and refinanced a house, I had an idea of what to expect. I knew the industry’s standards are a lot more strict than they were when I originally bought my house, so I knew I would have to be ready to provide any extra information the underwriters would need.

What advice would you give to readers who are thinking about buying a home and applying for a mortgage?

My only advice would be to choose a loan company that you feel comfortable with. Rates and fees will be pretty close with most every company out there, but the loan officers at Guaranty Trust take the time to sit down and discuss all aspects of the loan process. There is a constant line of communication between the loan officers and borrowers. By speaking to someone daily, you know there will not be any surprises from when you first fill out the application until you get to the closing table.
